I feel like everyone thinks its about a relationship between a couple, but to me I see it as a father/daughter kind of thing. He'd do anything for her. He'd buy her anything and when she grew up he moved so they could still be together. Then when she found a guy she introduced him to her father. Her dad, although not wanting to let go, approved just to see her smile.
