I'd say for the most part, that I think this song is about how people of color are expected to blindly respect and serve a country they live in (in this case, America) especially in regards to military enlistment, that doesn't treat, serve, or respect them as much as they should. It takes me back to pre Civil Rights Era/Vietnam War era wars in which many draftees of color were forced to fight for America despite not having full civil rights.
