Dec 2nd 2011!⃝

The intro makes it obvious that the song is a guy telling his girl about his relationship with her, and that they are always fighting. “Could it be that we have been this way before?” To me, the way the guy says that, shows that he’s a little sarcastic; questioning if they had ever gone a night without fighting. It also implies that it’s been so long since they’ve had a good night, he can’t believe there was a time where they didn’t fight at all. “I know you’re wearing thin down to the core” He knows she’s coming to her breaking point with something he’s doing.

In the chorus he is clearly telling her to wait and see they’ll have good nights again (and again). There’s an interesting part though, that makes it apparent the he is in control of the relationship. When he says “Don’t make me change my mind” it shows that he might go back on his words, and hints that maybe he has before. He then goes on saying that she’s unlike anyone he’s ever met.

This whole section confirms my suspicions. He must have cheated on her at least twice before. He didn’t mean for it to happen, and he promised he wouldn’t do it again. She thought he was better than that, but he gave in. Though he gave in, it was always her he wanted.

The chorus, once again, restates the ideas it had the first time through.

These are the last verses before the ending chorus. At first, it seemed kind of detached from the rest of the song, but if you look closely it makes sense. He’s telling her to calm down and take what he’s saying into consideration. “And hold on to your words, cuz talk is cheap” That part might seem like he means that she shouldn’t speak, but I think while he’s saying it to her, he means it about himself; that he will be holding on to his words, his promise, and that it doesn’t matter what he tells her, because “talk is cheap”. He’s not going to cheat on her anyway.

The chorus, for the final time, emphasizes the point it was trying to get across
