And when it rains
On this side of town it touches everything
Just say it again and mean it
We don't miss a thing
[I think that this first verse suggests that when bad times happen, it can affect everything and we all say things we don't mean. but will always be there]

You made yourself a bed
At the bottom of the blackest hole
And convinced yourself that it's not the reason
You don't see the sun anymore
[This could mean that the person has made themselves so used to living in darkness and with a grey cloud over them, that they can't see themselves happy anymore. But trying to pretend that they are]

And oh, oh, how could you do it?
Oh I, I never saw it coming
Oh, oh, I need the ending
So why can't you stay just long enough to explain?
[In the chorus, I think that it could be from the point of view of a close friend of someone who has tried to run away or end their life. And this leads to the confusion of the friend as they never expected it]

And when it rains
Will you always find an escape?
Just running away
[The two lines above could explain how the friend thinks that the person is just being a coward and always looking for the easy way out]
From all of the ones who love you
From everything

You made yourself a bed
At the bottom of the blackest hole
And you'll sleep 'til May and you'll say
That you don't want to see the sun anymore
[I think that this is when the person finally admited to their friend that they don't want to see the 'light'. Because they have been down for so long, and can't pretend to be happy anymore]

And oh, oh, how could you do it?
Oh I, I never saw it coming
Oh, oh, I need the ending
So why can't you stay just long enough to explain?
[In this last line, I think that is it the friend trying to get the person to stop what they're doing to explain it to them. It is almost as if she is pleading with them]

Take your time
Take my time
[This part shows that the friend is now telling them to take their time to explaining, but also letting them know that they are taking up her time aswell]

Take these chances to turn it around
(Take your time)
[In these two lines, it is telling the person that is down, to try and turn things around, but in their own time.]
Just take these chances, we'll make it somehow
[I think that this is the friend telling them that together they will manage to find a way through the hard times]
And take these chances to turn it around
(Take my)
Just turn it around

And oh, how could you do it?
Oh I, I never saw it coming
Oh, oh, how could you do it?
Oh I, I never saw it coming
[In the chorus, I think that it could be from the point of view of a close friend of someone who has tried to run away or end their life. And this leads to the confusion of the friend as they never expected it and is clearly confused by what has happened, knowing that her help didn't work]

Oh, oh, how could you do it?
Oh I, I never saw it coming
Oh, oh I need an ending
So why can't you stay just long enough to explain?

You can take your time
Take my time
[In this last two lines, the friend is saying to the person that is struggling, that they just need to be patient, and take her time to sort things out. And that she can take her friends time aswell to help.]
