It could just means the persona is missing someone dear to him, to be simple and honest. However, I was dumped very recently, and somehow this song makes sense in every way. I miss my girlfriend (my ex as of now) so much, I love her in every way possible, but still in the end, I was dumped, and she just wouldn't say why.
